I have finally gotten everything together and now have several computers networked. 2 of the puters are running winxp which was installed off the same disk with the same key. The first being my main puter. With this second puter online now, will it cause problems if I register it or try to update it, with both of them having same key? or does microsoft allow several puters in same household?

It could. My recomendation is to disable Windows update and use Windiz Update.
Disable Windows Automatic Update
Windiz Update Site
If you need to get rid of the whole Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications and Validations check out Ways to get rid of WGA
Of course the best idea would be to s&*#can Windows XP and get you a good distribution of Linux (I currently like Fedora)!!
